One of My Greatest Experiences with God: On a recent trip to Africa, I was reading and preparing to speak at a pastors conference. Psalm 147:9–10 jumped out at me, and I thought they would be good verses for the pastors to hear. As I typed it in my notes, I felt like the Lord said, “No, I want you to give those verses tomorrow.” We were going to be attending a church service the next day where a member of our team was going to speak. So I stopped typing and went to bed. The next day, we were worshipping at the service, and God kept reminding me of these verses. Our team member got up to speak, and about 15 minutes into his message, he stopped … I mean literally in the middle of his message, he stopped … and looked down at me and said, “Todd, do you have a word for the people?” I had not told him or any of the team what God had told me the night before! I had the strangest mix of stunned yet expectant emotions, and I stood right up and went to the platform. There were 5,000 people in the congregation, and I took about 4 minutes to give the verses and an encouraging word along with it. Since that day, I have not stopped thinking about how amazing God is to give me a couple verses that He wanted someone in a group of 5,000 to hear so badly that He chose to completely interrupt a sermon to give the word. I was humbled to be used in that way.
Most People Don’t Know This About Me: I played the bass in a college band. I sang in a musical act before 10,000+ people. I jumped out of a plane at 9,000 feet. I played basketball in front of Michael Jordan.
